Adulting 101: ‘The Breaks' Star, Afton Williamson, Talks Importance of Personal and Business Relationship Management
Days before the season 1 premiere of VH1’s hip hop television series, The Breaks, I caught up with breakout star Afton Williamson to get the scoop on what viewers can expect -- and in the process she dropped some gems.
In the series Williamson plays Nikki Jones, a recent grad who abandons a scholarship to law school to pursue her dream of becoming a record exec. Throughout the 3 month taping of the show Williamson admittedly grows with her character and in her words learns, “It’s not all just about work. Your relationships are your relationships. You have to understand that when you’re trying to make it in this industry. Friendships, relationships, all of them go together. It’s also the people that you know, your connections and how you treat people.”
Williamson has “been blessed to play nothing but strong female characters and that’s been a blessing, a gift, and a choice.” Watch her on The Breaks on VH1 Mondays at 10P/C
